Swallowing study and then physical therapy, but we got good news. Well, if you have been diagnosed with conversion disorder it is good news:) Her test is abnormal. The swallowing function is working, but when the substances reached the esophagus they slowed and nearly stopped about 1/2 way down every time. After the test there was still “residue” left in the esophagus. However, the test is administered by a speech therapist and she can’t “diagnose” the problem, only tell us that it is not normal. She gave us several techniques for her to try to make eating easier and she will inform the pediatrician that it is abnormal and recommend more follow up. I asked for a copy of the report to be sent directly to me for Cleveland, and the therapist said she would gladly do that.
Then physical therapy. She had nearly no twitches today (smile) and not too much cramping in her left leg so the therapist tried something new–sciatic massage and gentle traction to try to help the numbness in the foot. It didn’t work out at all. She almost immediately began having severe cramps in that leg and her whole body began twitching and her hands were clenching. She laughed at how much she reacted to it, but the therapist felt bad and said we won’t try that again for a while. Just detoxify and lymphatic/visceral massage until that botox is gone. After she got home and rested for a while it all calmed back down, so we still think it is slowly helping.

Hi Kye
Just wondering how your daughter is going? Just wondering if the techniques the Speech Pathologist gave you worked at all? How are her twitches and cramps? Did Cleveland or the Paediatrician give you any feedback about the swallowing study being abnormal?
Really hoping that she is seeing some improvements…….
