About leahwlchl

I just got Botox 6 days ago and my symptoms started the next day. After reading all of the posts on here, I'm wondering if they will only get worse. It started with severe anxiety then an extremely heavy head. I feel pressure around my ears too. I have been taking Xanax to relieve some of the anxiety but I worry about the long term effects of taking xanax. I worry constantly and can't think about anything else. I will be starting a new semester in college in jan. but I'm not sure if I can feeling like this. I only had 20 units of Botox on my frown lines but it has really made me sick. I'm so scared!!! Does anybody get better after a few weeks or am I doomed?! My husband and friends think I'm crazy. I have no appetite and I have lost two pounds already. How can I not focus on these symptoms so I can try to live a somewhat normal life?

Sinuses ugh!!

I am now eleven weeks into this nightmare and I’m having really bad sinus issues. My sinuses are swelling completely shut. I have been trying to use nasonex but it causes my heart to palpitate. I use 800mg of Advil 3x’s a day and that scares me to be taking that much. I’m wondering if this will ever get better? I have heard that some people have not had improvements in this area at all. I was hoping this would be temporary because of the drugs I’m taking to make it better. Has anybody else experienced their sinuses swelling shut? I could really use some advice or reassurance from somebody else who has gone through this.

Hi there. Many people have had sinus issues. I didn’t have them until my relapse of symptoms at Month 17…have now had them for the past 5 months. It is the worst at night for me…I can’t sleep with my mouth closed as my sinuses are completely shut as well. During the day….they are better but still somewhat congested. I would suggest that you do not use Nasonex ….it will only cause a rebound effect of the symptoms. If you can possibly back off of the Advil…that would be good too…for the same reason. Any anti-inflammatory medication could cause things to get worse before they get better. I do know someone, however, that had such horrible pain that she did take Advil every day for a few months…and eventually things got better for her. So….don’t want to tell you to go through suffering if the Advil helps…but long term on the Nasonex is really not a good idea. You might have to suffer being really clogged up for awhile but should subside with time.

      Hi, soloist!!

Are you still having sinus issues? Do you have a lot of face pressure and pain too? Do you have any mucus with it? I am having some mucus but it’s going down my throat instead of out my nose. I am going to an ENT today so I am hoping he can do something for me. I know that you said you were on antibiotics before so I’m just wondering how your body handled that? I have noticed that since I have been sick my body doesn’t react the same to medications as it did before. I am having a really hard time staying positive because it seems like things are getting worse instead of better.

I too suffered each time with my sinuses …. Horribly each and everytime I had the botox injections to stop my jaw spasms caused by tmj/tmd. Of course the doctor said the botox was not causing this.. Anyhow, this may sound a bit odd to you but I bought fresh Ginger in the supermarket and made tea with it. Some people like the smell of it some do not. I find that people also have a much stronger smell, I feel another botox side effect. Either way Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory and i tell you it helped tremendously… Good luck.

      Hi Denise!
Did your sinuses get better? I’m worried that they will always be this way and never get better.

Yes after making myself the fresh ginger tea each day 2 times a day for 5 days I was amazingly better all the way up to the next botox injection for my tmj. After each botox injection session within days I had a sinus infection and was put on the zpac. The zpack helped for about 2 weeks and then wham the sinus problem was back. My doctor put me on a second zpac and again the same results. So after doing this process 2 times, I decided to look for something other then an antibiotic to help. I was already on muscle relaxers and pain pills for my tmj so they were obviously not working… So I stopped all antibiotics and muscle relaxers, mobic, motrin etc and decided to try something natural… It took about 3 days of me drinking the ginger tea 2 times a day and I am telling you. It worked for me.. It is also has natural anti-inflammatory ingredients in it …so the internet said… Either way the Natural Ginger tea was helped me… Believe me I was suffering on and off for 8 years before finding this site regarding Botox side effects. I have stopped all botox treatment for my TMJ and use the ginger tea… Remember some may not like the smell, but it is worth it.. Good luck truly and keep me posted… you just take a small piece of the fresh Ginger, clean it and put it in water and boil it. Just drink the liquid….

        Denise,
Are your sinuses better? I’m just wondering if this is something that gets better or not.

        Thanks,

Yes leahwlchl after all my botox injections within max 10 days I had sinus type infections.. This went on each and every time. I could not breath through my nose and would sleep with my mouth open and wake up feeling like I had strep throat it was sooooo dry. My husband and I were disgusted with not being able to get help from the doctors. The primary doctor and ENT said I was fine just take antibiotics, and would give me nose sprays… nasonex etc etc… I would use the ocean spray because I felt it would be a little more natural but still did not help. Then my husband told me he heard from Someone that ginger real ginger boiled to make tea would help me. It did… At first I was skeptical and refused to drink it.. I hated the smell but finally gave in since I wanted to be better. Well I drank the ginger tea I made 2 times a day and by day 3 was a new person. I continued it for a total of 10 days…. but by day 7 knew I was great… It also is a natural anti-inflammatory which is why I keep taking it for my TMJ muscles and jaw spasms.. I am a total believer. I no longer get the botox injections but did use the tea for 10 days after my injections.. I love the ginger tea now.

      Denise,
My nose started getting bad six weeks after the injections. It kept getting worse as far as the stuffiness goes. Now it is finally so bad that the nasonex with 800mg is all that works and that barely works. I’m worried that this will never go away. I tried the tea today and will drink it again tonight. I hope this helps me like it did you.

Hi leahwlchl do not get discouraged. Your sinuses will definitely clear up. Just be patient with the tea. I totally fought it with my husband. But then it finally started to work.. The first time I tried it it was not until the 2 or 3 day that I found it worked. The seond round of injections it took a bit longer but then again they had increased the botox… Either way I promise you it helped me… I too tried the nasonex and well that did not help me. I also had tried 2 other types of nasal sprays from the doctor. I did find relief with the over the counter Ocean nasal spray but again just temporary. I would also take a ride down by the beach and walk with my husband and dog for about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. He thought maybe the ocean air would help. It would help, but again I came home and had the ginger tea. …. The thing that helped me was the fresh giner tea. Please email me at Denisepepe1@verizon.net and let me know how your doing. Good Luck and Hang in there and know that someone cares. Good Luck

    Hi Leah,
I just now received your emails… I responded. Yesterday was a horrible day for me as far as my botox side effects from my 9/11 injections. I suffer this time from “Panic Attacks” and also the jaw spasms are back from my TMJ so had to go and stay with a friend. I have to do the same today but will try to call you inbetween or I will be home at my house at 8;00 pm my time… Denise
